12. Will Grizzly Mountain Beard Dye Turn My Beard Green?

The product itself is a green powder made of plants and herbs that have natural oxidation properties. When mixed with very hot water, the dye paste will lather on dark green, and will oxidize within a few hours to the desired colour. If your beard has a green tinge to it immediately after applying, all this means is the dye has been absorbed by your beard and requires a time to oxidize. For most men this means 30 minutes, other, more coarse beards, will take up to 24 hours. This is why the first step in our instructions is to apply on a Friday night with nothing to do the next day. It will give you time to see how your particular beard reacts with Grizzly Mountain Beard Dye.

12. My Beard is Purple What Can I do?

Don’t panic - the purple is due to your beard absorbing too much indigo over the other ingredients, or using soaps/oils/balms/lotions/creams that strip away the other ingredients and leave too much indigo, or using lotions/balms/oils that affect the oxidation process of the dye. Remember that our dye works differently from man to man, and it seems that some beards (about 10%) are extremely sensitive to the indigo in the black/dark brown dye.

We would recommend AVOIDING SOAP (and any other beard products) for at least 24-48 hours after application, and using the Organic Base for 30 minutes then the dye for 15 minutes only. If you do develop purple, do not apply the dark brown/black dye again until you neutralize it with the Organic Base. There is no specific time you have to wait before applying the Organic Base again if purple is still present. Applying the dye again to a purple beard will only add more indigo and worsen the problem. If possible, trim your beard down and restart on a fresh beard. Remember, with herbal dye, changing your application technique will drastically change your results.

The most effective technique against the purple tinge is:

1. Wash your beard thoroughly with hot water

2. In a bowl, mix two heaping teaspoons of the Organic Base with near boiling water until you have the consistency of ketchup.

3. Apply the Organic Base to your beard liberally WHILE STILL WARM, and let sit for 30 minutes

4. Wash out thoroughly with hot water

5. Immediately apply the dye in the exact same way you applied the Organic Base and let sit for 10-15 minutes

6. Wash out completely with hot water and no soap

7. Let oxidize overnight
